Kristin England

Kristin has served as the Sustainability Manager for CES since April 2025. She also holds the role of Systems Engineer at MTSU, a position she has held since October 2022. Kristin earned her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2015 and gained valuable experience in the industry before joining MTSU.

Over the course of her career, she has developed strong interests in data analytics, utilities, building systems, and the principles of reliability and maintainability. These interests support her commitment to advancing sustainability efforts across campus. Her work is driven by a data-informed approach aimed at improving energy efficiency and operational performance at MTSU.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Kristin is passionate about gardening and biodiversity—interests that further inspire her commitment to sustainable living and decision-making.

Kristen Hargis

Kristen joined the Center for Energy and Sustainability as Assistant Manager in June 2025. She brings over a decade of experience as a sustainability professional, educator, and researcher across diverse educational and cultural contexts. She has taught sustainability education in university courses, kindergarten to grade 12 schools, and adult education in Canada, Japan, and the United States. Kristen coordinated a range of environmental and sustainability research projects conducted by the Sustainability and Education Policy Network from 2013-2024, including several UNESCO consultancies, and U.S and Canadian education policy landscape analyses. Kristen received her Master of Educational Foundations and PhD in Environment and Sustainability from the University of Saskatchewan.

Beyond her formal role, Kristen is passionate about sustainable living. She enjoys cycling, painting with natural themes, and sourdough baking.

Stacy Smith

Technical Clerk, 615-898-2822, stacy.smith@mtsu.edu

Stacy Smith is a Technical Clerk with the MTSU Center for Energy and Sustainability, where she has served since 2011. She supports campus utilities and oversees aspects of the university’s recycling program, contributing to MTSU’s sustainability efforts. Stacy earned her BS in Management Information Systems with a minor in Business Administration from MTSU.

Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, outdoor adventures, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
