Social Panels

Solar panels are installed on campus is two locations, on the awning next to the Holmes Building, and in front of the Horticulture Facility. Each month they help reduce the amount of electricity purchased from the Murfreesboro grid. You can find their exact locations on our sustainability map.

Solar Picnic Tables

Did you know there are five solar-powered picnic tables on campus? Each table generates approximately 1,239 kWh of clean electricity every year, saving about $117 annually. Beyond their environmental benefits, these tables offer students a great place to study outdoors while charging their devices. Each table is equipped with both USB and 120V outlets for convenient, on-the-go power.

You’ll find three in front of the College of Education, one next to the Cason Kennedy Nursing Building, and one behind the Wright Music Building. You can explore their exact locations on our sustainability map.

Green Power Purchase

Through the Sustainable Campus Fee Program, students have invested over $2.4M renewable energy in Tennessee through TVA’s Green Power Purchase Program. In 2025, the program supported 96,241 megawatt-hours of renewable energy generation, which is equivalent to planting 64,857 acres of forest in one year.
